Collaboration Focused on Accelerating Enterprise Adoption of OpenStack
(Boston, MA) May 6, 2015 – VMTurbo, the only demand-driven control platform for the software-defined data center, today announced that Red Hat, Inc., the world’s leading provider of open source solutions, has made a strategic investment in the company. VMTurbo plans to use the funds to further develop its industry-leading control platform, accelerate adoption of demand-driven control in OpenStack deployments, and increase support to VMTurbo’s rapidly growing customer base. The funding agreement expands the ongoing collaboration between Red Hat and VMTurbo.
“We are pleased to welcome Red Hat, the open-source leader, as a strategic investor in VMTurbo,” said Charles Crouchman, CTO of VMTurbo. “Customers’ interest in OpenStack is rapidly increasing as a more flexible and affordable alternative to other cloud computing platforms. Our demand-driven control platform, tightly integrated with Red Hat CloudForms and the Red Hat Cloud Infrastructure, makes OpenStack deployments more resilient, performant and agile.”
VMTurbo and Red Hat began collaborating in 2012, at the same time that VMTurbo joined the OpenStack Foundation. Since then, the two industry leaders have worked closely on contributions to core OpenStack projects such as OpenStack Telemetry (Ceilometer), OpenStack Compute (Nova), as well as ManageIQ and the Java SDK. Tight integration with Red Hat CloudForms, an enterprise management solution that enables open, hybrid clouds by providing consistent control, orchestration and visibility across virtual infrastructure and public cloud platforms, will position VMTurbo as a demand-driven control solution for OpenStack deployments.
“Red Hat’s investment in VMTurbo will help accelerate the adoption of OpenStack in enterprises seeking greater visibility and control of available resources in IaaS clouds,” said Joe Fitzgerald, Vice President and General Manager of Cloud Management at Red Hat. “Many companies across industries are making open source technologies part of their business strategies. VMTurbo’s contribution to the OpenStack community and the integration of demand-driven control with CloudForms enables these enterprises to enhance the performance of their OpenStack environments while maximizing their efficiency.”
