VMTurbo today announced that BT Group plc (LSE: BT.A, NYSE: BT), one of the world’s largest telecommunications companies with operations in more than 170 countries, has licensed the VMTurbo Cloud Operations Manager for its internal operations. Designed specifically to orchestrate across multiple layers of services and infrastructure, the VMTurbo Cloud Operations Manager helps organizations achieve the agility promised by virtualization and cloud computing in large, complex and dynamic environments.

BT will deploy the VMTurbo Cloud Operations Manager to support its Enterprise VDC (Virtual Data Center), which delivers virtualized compute and storage resources to host thousands of IT applications. BT’s Enterprise VDC runs on a dynamic and virtualized infrastructure of approximately 600 ESX servers and thousands of VMs in multiple data centers.

BT will use VMTurbo to streamline the efficiency of the Enterprise VDC platform while assuring that compute and storage resources are allocated in the optimal way to assure application performance.

“Having successfully deployed a proof of concept in two of our major data centers, we expect to make significant savings while, at the same time, we will be able to sustain application performance by making optimal resource allocation decisions,” said Head of IT Capacity Planning at BT, Ben Ashford.
