This past year I have been looking for something in my life that would give me a real purpose. Not just a job but something that was fun, and I enjoyed doing. This made the job search a big challenge. I’ve been in the IT field for a long time in various positions. I also like to fix things and make them better, so finding the company that would value and enable me to improve the company while being in a field I enjoy again proved challenging. I wanted to share my experience interviewing with Turbonomic, which was nothing short of amazing! If you’re considering Turbonomic, read on!
Part 1: First Phone Interview
It started off with the VP of Customer Escalation Engineering. It was very casual, and we found a lot of things we had in common. We reviewed my resume and talked about what I was looking for and why I wanted to come to Turbonomic. I explained what I was looking for and that I had done extensive research on the product and the company and was very interested in being part of a team which I could bring value to. After speaking with him he let me know that he would walk my resume down to the recruiter and they would set up additional interviews. I was relieved and excited since my search for the right company had been going on for a long time.
Part 2: Second Phone Interview
The Talent Acquisition recruiter contacted me about a week later and we spoke for a good while about a couple of different positions that I would be a fit for. The conversation was casual and very open about what they were looking for and what I was looking for in a company and my expectations. After the call she let me know that should would set up a call with the Director of Customer Success as soon as possible.
Part 3: Third Phone Interview
This was with the Customer Success Director which was wonderful, he explained the positions and what was going on within the company. They were growing and growing fast. He explained that they were still developing the framework and processes around customer experience and deployments. When I got off the phone I was more excited than ever. I had found a company that I not only believed in the product but I believed in the company and knew I wanted to be part of the team.
Part 4: Onsite Interviews
After my call with the Customer Success Director I was contacted by the Talent Acquisition Recruiter and she let me know that I would be coming to Boston for face to face interviews. I was excited since I had gone to high school in the Boston area and knew I loved the city. She gave me the travel company information, and within an hour I was set to travel with airfare and hotel confirmed.
I got in on Sunday afternoon, so I had time to see a little of the city and relax prior to a busy next day with six interviews scheduled. The breakdown of the interviews looked as follows:
10:00 A.M. Director of Customer Success
11:00 A.M. Director of Client Management
11:45 A.M. VP of Customer Escalation Engineering
12:30 P.M. Break (Lunch)
1:00 P.M. Chief Customer Officer
2:00 P.M. VP of Talent Acquisition
3:00 P.M. Technical Account Manager
I looked at the schedule and thought well this is going to be a long day for sure but still very exciting. Each of the interviews I learned more and more about the company, the position and about most of the people. This was one of the best interview processes I have ever been through. I was comfortable with each of the interviewers and they made me feel like I was already part of the team. My excitement was so intense that I wanted to start work right then. I can’t say I have ever walked away from an interview feeling that way, so I knew Turbonomic was the place for me.
Part 5: The outcome
Wow a few days later I received a call with a verbal offer and felt like a new person with purpose. I was going to have a job that I would have fun doing as well as be part of a culture that was amazing beyond belief. I am definitely drinking from the water hose, but it is exciting and rewarding each day. This is going to be a wild ride and I am so glad to be part of a growing company with an exciting future.
